The short version
- Parking locations, photos, notes, and history are stored only on your iPhone and Apple Watch.
- We don’t run any servers, and the app makes no network requests to us.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
- Location is used to save your spot and guide you back — never uploaded.
- Background location and motion features are opt-in, and every detected parking spot needs your confirmation.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store.
1. Information the app stores
Parking Assistant works without an account and without sending your data to us. The information below is stored on your device so the app can function.
Parking sessions
When you save a parking spot, the app stores its coordinates, the time you parked, and an approximate address. You can also add indoor details such as floor, zone, or spot number, and a free-text note.
Parking photos
If you choose to take a photo with the camera or pick one from your photo library, a copy is saved in the app’s private storage and linked to that parking session. The app only accesses the photos you select.
Parking timer
If you set a meter or parking time limit, the app stores the expiry time so it can show the remaining time and remind you before it runs out.
History & saved places
Past parking sessions and places you save as favorites (for example a garage you use often) are kept on your device so you can review or reuse them.
App settings
Preferences such as reminder options, Auto Detect, and Leaving Alert are saved locally.
2. How information is used
Information in Parking Assistant is used only to provide the app’s features:
- To show where your car is on a map and your distance to it.
- To give you walking directions back to your car in Apple Maps.
- To show your indoor spot details, photo, and note.
- To count down your parking time and send reminders you set up.
- To suggest saving a spot when driving appears to have ended (Auto Detect, optional).
- To alert you when you leave the area where you parked (Leaving Alert, optional).
- To show your current parking status on your Apple Watch and its complication.
We do not use your data for advertising, build location profiles, or share your movements with anyone.
3. Where your data lives
Your parking sessions, photos, history, and settings are stored in Parking Assistant’s private app container on your device, protected by the operating system’s sandbox and your device passcode or biometrics. We have no server and no copy of your data.
Your data may be included in your device’s regular iCloud or computer backups if you have those enabled; those backups are managed by Apple and by you, not by us. You can end a parking session, delete history, or remove all app data by uninstalling the app.
4. Apple Watch
If you use the Apple Watch app, your current parking session is sent from your iPhone to your paired Apple Watch using Apple’s Watch Connectivity framework, which transfers data directly between your own devices. Photos are not transferred. The Watch keeps a small copy of the current session so the app and its watch-face complication can display it.
The Watch app may use your location while it is open to show how far you are from your car.
5. Permissions we request
Parking Assistant only asks for permissions needed for features you use:
- Location (While Using) — to save where you parked and guide you back.
- Location (Always) — optional, requested only if you turn on Leaving Alert, so the app can notify you when you leave the area around your car. It is never requested silently.
- Motion & Fitness — optional, used only by Auto Detect (Beta) to notice when driving may have ended. The app never saves a parking spot without your confirmation.
- Camera — optional, to take a photo of your parking spot.
- Photos — optional, to pick an existing photo of your spot. Only the photo you choose is accessed.
- Notifications — optional, for parking time reminders and alerts.
Location and motion data are processed on your device and are never uploaded. You can review and revoke permissions anytime in your device’s Settings.
6. Free trial & purchases
Parking Assistant offers a free 7-day trial and a one-time purchase to unlock the full app. There are no subscriptions. Both are handled by Apple through the App Store: Apple processes any payment, and the app verifies your purchase on the device using Apple’s StoreKit. We never receive your payment details, name, or Apple ID.
Even without a purchase, you can always find your currently parked car.
7. Third-party services
Parking Assistant does not include any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. It relies only on Apple frameworks:
- Apple Maps / MapKit — to display maps, look up an approximate address, and open walking directions. These requests are handled by Apple.
- App Store / StoreKit — for the free trial and purchase.
- Watch Connectivity & WidgetKit — to show your parking status on Apple Watch.
Apple’s handling of data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
9. Data retention
Parking sessions, photos, history, and saved places remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Ending a parking session moves it to your history, where you can delete it.
10. Security
Parking Assistant relies on your device’s built-in protections: app sandboxing, encrypted storage where the operating system provides it, and your device lock. Because your parking locations reveal where you are, we recommend using a strong passcode and keeping your devices updated.
11. Your rights
Because your data stays on your devices, you control it directly. You can:
- View, edit, and delete parking sessions, history, and saved places in the app.
- Turn off optional features such as Auto Detect and Leaving Alert.
- Revoke location, motion, camera, photo, or notification access in Settings.
- Uninstall the app to remove all of its data from your devices.
If you are in the EU, UK, California, or another region with privacy laws (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA), you may have additional rights. Contact us below and we will respond within applicable timeframes.
12. Children’s privacy
Parking Assistant is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal data, email us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Parking Assistant changes or when laws require it. We will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes may also be noted in the app or release notes.
